Free AI Pro Plans in India: Jio, Airtel and Student Offers Explained

The best free AI Pro India deal right now is Jio’s: eligible Jio users on an unlimited 5G plan of Rs 349 or more can claim Google AI Pro, listed at Rs 35,100, free for 18 months through the MyJio app. Airtel’s free Perplexity Pro offer ended on 16 January 2026, and OpenAI’s free ChatGPT Go year closed to new sign-ups in early 2026, while university students can still claim Google AI Plus free for a year until 31 December 2026.

This guide explains every free AI Pro plan in India that we could verify as of 10 October 2026: what is still live, what has ended, the conditions in the small print, and how to avoid being charged when a free year runs out.

Here is the status of each major free AI Pro offer in India, checked on 10 October 2026.

Jio’s free Google AI Pro offer (18 months)

Reliance Jio and Google launched “Google AI Pro, Powered by Jio” in late October 2025, first for users aged 18 to 25, then for all adult Jio users from November 2025. The official Jio Google Gemini offer page was still live when we checked on 10 October 2026, listing the Pro plan of Google Gemini at Rs 35,100, free for 18 months.

Who is eligible

• Jio retail users aged 18 or older. Non-Jio users can qualify by getting a new Jio SIM.
• An active unlimited 5G plan of Rs 349 or above, prepaid or postpaid.
• The plan must stay active for the whole offer period to keep the benefit.
• One claim per unique mobile number.

How to claim it

1. Update and open MyJio. Log in with your Jio number.
2. Tap the Google Gemini banner. It appears on the home screen for eligible numbers.
3. Register with your Gmail ID. Use the Google account you want upgraded, since the plan attaches to that account.
4. Confirm in Gemini. Open the Gemini app or Google One settings and check that Google AI Pro shows as active.

What Google AI Pro includes

Google AI Pro normally costs Rs 1,950 a month in India. It gives 4x the free plan’s Gemini usage limits, higher access to Gemini 3 Pro and Deep Search, 1,000 Google Flow credits, a limited trial of Veo 3.1 Lite video, Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Vids, the Jules coding agent, Gemini Notebook with more Audio Overviews, a 1M token context window, YouTube Premium Lite and 5 TB of storage, according to Google’s subscriptions page. Airtel’s AI offers: Perplexity Pro ended, Adobe Express is the new perk

Airtel’s 12-month free Perplexity Pro offer, launched in July 2025, is over. Perplexity’s Airtel promo help page states: “The promotional offer ended on January 16, 2026.” People who redeemed before the deadline keep their 12 months. Redemption required a card, and Perplexity warns that if you subscribed through Apple or Google and do not turn off auto-renewal, “you’ll keep being charged and the promo won’t apply.”

If you still have Perplexity Pro through Airtel, note your redemption date. Perplexity does not spell out what happens after the 12 months, so check your billing settings before then; Pro normally costs $20 a month. Airtel’s Adobe Express Premium offer

On 29 January 2026, Airtel announced one year of Adobe Express Premium free for its mobile, Wi-Fi and DTH customers, worth about Rs 4,000 a year, according to press reports. You claim it in the Airtel Thanks app under Rewards and OTTs by signing in with an Adobe account, and Airtel said no card is needed. Adobe Express Premium includes AI features such as background removal and image generation. We could not confirm on Airtel’s site whether new claims are still open, so check the app.

ChatGPT Go free for a year: closed, and renewals are coming

On 4 November 2025, OpenAI made ChatGPT Go free for 12 months for eligible users in India. New claims stopped around 21 January 2026, according to Indian tech coverage of OpenAI’s release notes, and OpenAI’s India promotion help page no longer shows any active promotion terms.

The important part now is renewal. Each free year ends 12 months after you redeemed it, so the earliest users reach the end in early November 2026. After that, OpenAI charges the saved card or UPI mandate the normal Go price (Rs 399 a month was the reported India price) unless you cancel first. OpenAI does not offer annual billing for Go, Plus or Pro.

1. Find your renewal date. In ChatGPT, open Settings, then your account or subscription page.
2. Decide whether Go is worth Rs 399. Go includes GPT-6 Luna in Chat, higher limits for images and uploads, projects and custom GPTs.
3. Cancel before renewal if not. Your access continues to the end of the paid period. Check your UPI app for any autopay mandate you also want to revoke.

How to avoid surprise charges after a free AI plan

1. Write down the end date the day you activate. Most offers run from activation, not a fixed calendar date.
2. Set a reminder two weeks before. That gives you time to decide and cancel.
3. Check UPI autopay mandates. Some sign-ups create a mandate even when the first charge is Re 1 or Rs 2 for verification.
4. Turn off app store auto-renew if you subscribed through Google Play or Apple, since those billing systems are separate.
5. Keep the required plan active. For Jio, letting your Rs 349+ 5G plan lapse can end the AI benefit early.
