Google Gemini is free to use, and the paid plans cost $4.99 per month for Google AI Plus, $19.99 per month for Google AI Pro, and $99.99 or $199.99 per month for the two Google AI Ultra tiers. In India, the same plans cost Rs 399, Rs 1,950, and Rs 6,500 or Rs 19,500 per month. For most people, AI Pro is the best value because it bundles higher Gemini limits, a 1M token context window, Veo video trials and 5 TB of storage.

This guide covers every Gemini plan as of September 2026, including what each tier unlocks, how Gemini works inside Google Workspace for businesses, the student offers, and which plan fits your needs.

Key takeaways

  • Gemini Free includes Gemini 3.6 Flash, varying access to 3.1 Pro, Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas, Gems and 15 GB of storage.
  • Google AI Plus ($4.99 or Rs 399) doubles Free’s usage limits and adds video generation, Gemini in Gmail and Docs, and 400 GB of storage.

Google Gemini plans and prices at a glance

Google sells Gemini as part of its Google AI plans, which also include Google One storage. That bundling is why Gemini’s paid tiers can be better value than they first look.

Plan USD/month INR/month Usage vs Free Storage
Free $0 Rs 0 1x 15 GB
Google AI Plus $4.99 Rs 399 2x 400 GB
Google AI Pro $19.99 Rs 1,950 4x 5 TB
Google AI Ultra (5x tier) $99.99 Rs 6,500 Higher than Pro 20 TB+
Google AI Ultra (20x tier) $199.99 Rs 19,500 Up to 20x Pro 20 TB+

USD prices come from the official Gemini subscriptions page, and rupee prices from the Gemini India subscriptions page.

Watch out: When we checked, the Google One AI plans page showed different figures (AI Plus at $9.99, AI Pro at $20 and Ultra “from $40”). That may be a regional or promotional display. Always check the price shown at checkout in your own account. Older articles quoting Ultra at $249.99 are out of date.

Gemini Free: a strong free plan

Gemini’s free tier is one of the most generous in the market. You get Gemini 3.6 Flash, a fast everyday model, with “varying access” to Gemini 3.1 Pro for harder questions. Free also includes image generation and editing, Deep Research, Gemini Live (voice conversations), Canvas, Gems (custom assistants), Gemini Notebook, limited Google Flow access and 15 GB of storage.

Gemini Notebook is the new name for NotebookLM on the subscriptions page. On the free tier, the help center lists 100 notebooks, 50 sources per notebook, 50 chats per day and 3 Audio Overviews per day. Our guide on how to use NotebookLM for study and research shows how to get the most from it.

Who it is for: students, casual users and anyone already living in Google’s apps. Who should skip it: people who need Gemini inside Gmail and Docs, or who regularly hit usage limits on 3.1 Pro. If you are collecting no-cost tools, see our list of the best free AI tools.

Google AI Plus: $4.99 for light users

Google AI Plus costs $4.99 per month in the US and Rs 399 per month in India. It is available in more than 160 countries and sits between Free and Pro.

  • 2x the usage limits of Free.
  • Video generation access, Daily Brief and 200 Google Flow credits per month.
  • Gemini Notebook with more Audio Overviews.
  • Gemini in Gmail and Docs.
  • 400 GB of storage.

Plus is a sensible upgrade if you mostly want Gemini inside Gmail and Docs and need more storage than 15 GB. It is less useful for heavy research or coding, where Pro’s higher limits and 1M context matter.

Save money: If you already pay for extra Google storage, compare your current storage bill with AI Plus. At $4.99 with 400 GB included, Plus can replace a storage plan and add AI for little or no extra cost.

Google AI Pro: the best value Gemini plan

Google AI Pro costs $19.99 per month (Rs 1,950 in India). That is roughly the same as ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro, but Pro bundles far more outside the chatbot.

What AI Pro includes

  • 4x the usage limits of Free, with “higher access to Gemini 3 Pro, Deep Search, agentic capabilities”.
  • A 1M token context window, enough for very long documents in one conversation.
  • 1,000 Google Flow credits per month and a limited trial of Veo 3.1 Lite for video.
  • The Jules coding agent and entry-level rate limits in Google Antigravity.
  • Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Vids, plus Chrome auto browse.
  • Gemini Notebook with 5x Audio Overviews (the Pro notebook tier lists 500 notebooks, 300 sources each and 500 chats per day).
  • YouTube Premium Lite, Google Home Premium Standard and 5 TB of storage.

Pros

  • 5 TB storage and YouTube Premium Lite included
  • 1M token context window
  • Deep integration with Gmail, Docs and Chrome

Cons

  • Veo access is only a limited Lite trial
  • Exact usage limits are expressed as multiples, not fixed numbers
  • Value drops if you do not use Google’s other apps

Google AI Ultra: $99.99 and $199.99 tiers

Google AI Ultra now has two tiers: a 5x tier at $99.99 per month (Rs 6,500) and a 20x tier at $199.99 per month (Rs 19,500). Ultra offers up to 20x the Pro plan’s usage limits on the top tier.

  • 10,000 to 25,000 Flow credits per month, depending on tier.
  • Full Veo 3.1 for video generation.
  • First access to Deep Think and Gemini Spark, plus Project Genie.
  • The highest Jules and Antigravity limits for coding.
  • YouTube Premium (individual), Google Home Premium Advanced and 20 TB+ of storage.

Who it is for: video creators who generate a lot of Veo clips, developers using Jules and Antigravity all day, and families or teams that need huge storage. Who should skip it: writers and researchers, who rarely need more than Pro. Creators should also compare Ultra with dedicated tools in our roundup of the best AI video generators.

Gemini for business: Google Workspace plans

For companies, Gemini now comes bundled into Google Workspace Business plans, with no separate Gemini add-on required. Here is what each tier includes according to the Google Workspace pricing page:

Workspace plan Gemini access Reported price (USD/user/month, annual)
Business Starter Limited: Gemini in Gmail, Vids and the Gemini app; 3 Audio Overviews per day About $7
Business Standard Gemini in Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet and Chat; expanded app access; 20 Audio Overviews per day About $14
Business Plus Same as Standard About $22
Enterprise Same as Plus Contact sales

Official per-user prices load dynamically and could not be confirmed, so the prices above come from third-party sources dated June 2026. Flexible (monthly) billing is reported at about 20% more. Google also offers an “AI Expanded Access” add-on with more automations and generations, but its price was not published. Our guide on how to use Gemini in Gmail, Docs and Sheets shows what these features look like day to day.

Note: Consumer Google AI plans do not include the Gemini API. Developers pay separately per token. See our Gemini API pricing guide for free tier details and paid token costs.

Student discounts and ways to save on Gemini

  1. Claim the student offer. Google’s US page says college students get a free AI Pro plan for one year. The India page says students can get AI Plus at no cost for one year, with a note that the “promotion expires soon”. Our AI student discounts guide lists similar offers from other vendors.
  2. Start with Free. Free already includes Deep Research, Gemini Live and Canvas. Upgrade only when you hit limits.
  3. Count the bundle. If you pay for YouTube Premium Lite or Google storage separately, AI Pro may replace those bills.
  4. Choose the 5x Ultra tier first. Jump to the $199.99 tier only if the 5x tier limits slow you down.
  5. Use Workspace for teams. Businesses on Workspace Standard already get Gemini in Docs, Sheets and Meet, so individual AI Pro plans may be unnecessary.

Frequently asked questions

Is Gemini free to use?

Yes. Gemini Free costs nothing and includes Gemini 3.6 Flash with varying access to Gemini 3.1 Pro, image generation and editing, Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas, Gems, Gemini Notebook and 15 GB of storage. It is one of the most complete free AI plans available, though usage limits are lower than on paid tiers.

How much does Google AI Pro cost in India?

Google AI Pro costs Rs 1,950 per month in India, according to Google’s India subscriptions page. AI Plus costs Rs 399 per month, and AI Ultra costs Rs 6,500 per month for the starting tier and Rs 19,500 for the top tier. Indian college students can currently get AI Plus free for one year while the promotion runs.

Is Google AI Pro worth it?

For most regular users, yes. At $19.99 per month it matches rivals on price but also bundles 5 TB of storage, YouTube Premium Lite, Gemini in Gmail and Docs, a 1M token context window and a Veo 3.1 Lite trial. If you already use Google’s apps daily, the bundle makes it one of the best value AI plans.

What is the difference between Google AI Pro and Ultra?

AI Pro costs $19.99 per month with 4x Free’s limits, 1,000 Flow credits and a Veo 3.1 Lite trial. Ultra costs $99.99 or $199.99 and adds up to 20x Pro’s usage, 10,000 to 25,000 Flow credits, full Veo 3.1, first access to Deep Think, the highest Jules limits and 20 TB+ storage. Ultra suits heavy video and coding users.

Does Google AI Pro include the Gemini API?

No. Google AI subscriptions cover the Gemini app, Workspace features, Flow and storage, but API usage through Google AI Studio or Vertex is billed separately per token. The Gemini API does have a free tier for Flash models, with limits shown in AI Studio.

Final verdict on Gemini pricing

Google AI Pro at $19.99 per month (Rs 1,950 in India) is the best Gemini plan for most people in 2026, thanks to its 1M token context window, Workspace integration and generous bundle of storage and YouTube perks. AI Plus is a smart budget pick for Gmail and Docs users, while Ultra only makes sense for heavy video creation or all-day coding with Jules. Students should grab the free one-year offers while they last. Google changes plan prices and regional offers often, so confirm the current price on the official Gemini subscriptions page before you buy.
